The earlier young people develop friendships within the church, the more likely they are to stay committed and grow in their faith. That’s the philosophy behind Sparks, our 4th and 5th grade youth group, which meets regularly for fun and fellowship during the school year.
We meet periodically for a fellowship activity or service project, and a devotional. It is so important to connect students early with the Christian Gospel and a community of fellow believers. Some highlights of last year included Outdoor Movie Night, tubing, Games Day/Rock Band at church, Nerf Wars, fall cleanup projects for church members and ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ at East Towne Mall.
“Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.” (1 Timothy 3:12)
Eugster’s Farm Market on October 7
We’re starting our Grades 4 & 5 Sparks season with some fall fun at Eugster’s Farm Market in Stoughton. There are plenty of fall fun activities including a corn maze, animal petting, pumpkin patch and more! Families are encouraged to participate. We will meet at church at noon to carpool. Cost should be about $10 per person for unlimited farm fun. Families that attend
can stay for as long as they’d like. They do have pumpkins to purchase or apples to pick, and variety of tasty seasonal snacks and hot chocolate or cider available at an additional cost.
Nerf Gun Wars on Friday, November 16
Why wait until the spring?! One of our favorite events will help us kickoff this year! Come to church Friday, November 16, from 5:30pm-7:30pm as the Fellowship Hall is transformed into a battlefield with Nerf darts, discs, and arrows flying through the air. We’ll start the event off with pizza and then the combat will commence. Friends and parents are welcome; actually it often seems like mom and dad have just as much fun as the kids!
